who is orange is in

Founded in the late 90s’, orange is in brings together a variety of disparate influences – including 60s pop, 80’s post punk and rootsy Texas rock – to create a sound that is uniquely their own. It is energetic rock with a decidedly mature sensibility.

The band, made up of veterans of the Texas music scene including George Kovacik (vocals), Jeff Balke (bass), Chris Rogers (guitar) and Steve Salazar (drums), has won fans throughout the state.

Recording over the summer and fall of 2005, in January 2006, orange is in  released its first full-length CD, Another Lame Semi-Tragedy.

Full of complex struggles of adult life, the tracks from Another Lame Semi-Tragedy are in stark contrast to the tongue-in-cheek title.  Both dark and hopeful imagery are set against a backdrop of lush, organic instrumentation straddling the line between decidedly American rock and pop music.

Another Lame Semi-Tragedy was named one of the best recordings of 2006 by Houston Calling.

In true Texas fashion, Come and Take It, the second release from orange is in, dares listeners to leave the pop music herd behind and head for the greener pastures of hard-driving American rock.

The six-song CD builds on the solid foundation of Another Lame Semi-Tragedy, while simultaneously moving the music into new territory.  Come and Take It was named one of the top 10 releases of 2007 by Houston Calling.
